A balanced, evidence-based view of the person before the court.
A pre-sentence report should not advocate. It should illuminate. Every report I prepare is built on careful interviews, corroborated collateral information, and recognised assessment frameworks — so the court is given a holistic picture it can rely on.
My recommendations are reasoned, never reflexive. Where rehabilitation is realistic, I say so and outline the conditions that would make it workable. Where it is not, I say that too.
